Dr. Darnell N. Bolton is a mid-nineteenth-century historian/professor/author and a native of Gary and grew up in the Emerson area. He attended E.A. Spaulding School and was graduated from Emerson School for the Visual & Performing Arts in 1989. His first college degrees were attained at Indiana University Northwest (Gary, IN) before subsequently receiving his Masters and Doctorate of Philosophy in history abroad.

Prior to working throughout the nation, Dr. Bolton worked tirelessly through several mayoral regimes toward the redevelopment of the City of Gary and its citizenry with the City of Gary Parks Dept., Indiana University Programming, Assistant Director of the Horace Mann Community Development Corporation (HMANIO), and African American Achievers Youth Corps with the State Representative.
